    Food prices went soaring due to bad harvest and brought hunger to poorer peasants and city dwellers.To fix this finacial crisis the 1st and 2nd classes would have to be taxed but thy refuse to do so.

    The Great Fear was a desperate time.Rumors ran wild tales of attacks on villages and town were spread. Rumors that soldiers were taking peasant crops. inflamed peasants unleashed there anger on noble who were trying to reimopse medievil dues.

    Storming the Bastille
    Rumors that royal troops were going to occupy the capital. The Bastille was a symbol of the abuse by the monarchy and was also belived that weapons and gunpowder were beign held there and the people demanded to have it. As the mob approached the commander closed the gate and opened fire on the crowd. The Crowd then broke through there defences and killed the commander only to find there was no weapons or gunpowder there.

    the people claiming to represent France declared themselves the National Assembly they get ocked out of there meeting halland having to have the meeting in the tennis court and then they all take the Tennis Court Oath saying. Saying that they will never stop meeting until they have come to an agreement.

Bread prices stared to rise again and the sansculottes started to stir up and riot but the directory quickly put a stop to it

    A crowd of Parisians stormes the palace of Tuilenies. Killing the king's guards. The royal family escapes before the mob arrives. A month later citizens attacked the prison which held about 1200 prisoners who were nobles and priest accused of political offences and were all slaughtered.The convention met and voted to abolish the monarchy and establish a republic.     King Louis XVI was put on trial as a traitor to France and is sentenced to death. In October his wife Marie Antoinette was also executed for many different things.

    Robespierre and the public safety
    France was at war with most of Europe aong with battles in itself. With all the threats towards France the convention created the committe of public safety which is a group of 12 men who prepare France for all-out war and also in charge of trails and executions. Later Robespierre took leadership over the committee of public safety. He believed that FRance could achieve a republic virtue only through terror among the people." Liberty cannot be secured unless criminals lose their heads."

    Revolutionary courts conducted hasty trails that greeted the death sentence. Around 300,000 people were thrown in jail and around 17,000 were exectued. Many were packed into prisons where disease killed them. The Guillotine was the more humane way on beheading someone. It quickly became the symbol of horror among the people

    Robespierre was arrested and executed the next day by the machine he brought fear to. After his death the executions dramatically slowed. After the riegn of terror the revolution entered a third stage, moving away from thre convention.
