    A Weak Leader (King Louis XVI)
    King Louis XVI had a goverment that was forced to make a meeting of the Estates-General to increasing taxes. Louis XVI made France's goverment go into debt because made the dicision with his wife to buy lots of things they didn't need. Becasue he did that, the people got angry becasue they had to pay more money so the goverment won't be in debt anymore. This was a great reason for part of the revolution.

    The Finacial Crisis
    The French economy was expanding for 50 years. Bad harvests and slowdowns in manufacturing made less food, inceasing prices for food, and no jobs. becasue about one third of the population was already poor, it reached a crisis at the start of the revolution. It happened between November 2, 1783-Febuary 22, 1788. A year after the French Revolution happened.

    Storming the Bastille and the Great Fear
    In Paris, there were rumors going around that Louis XVI was going to use the military to get rid of the National Assembly. More rumors went around that foreign troops were going to come and kill the French citizens. People got so scared about another rumor that was nobles were hiring outlaws to terrorize the peasents. Waves of panic hit the people and they were becoming outlaws themselves ao they burned down homes and started riots.
  • The Third Estate was upset

    The Third Estate was upset
    Over half of the peasents in the Third Estate had little/no land to survive. In the 18th Century, a portion of the Estate had rising prices on their items which made less sales. Surviving like this made lots of people become an important part of the revolution.
  • War with Austria

    War with Austria
    The leaders of Austria and Prussia got scared that revolution would spread to their countries. When they threatened to use force to restore Louis XVI power, the Legislative Assembly got insulted and wanted war with Austria in the Srping of 1792. The French lost and were trying to find scapgoats.
