The parliamentary revolt started on 9 Thermidor, year II which resulted in the fall and execution of Robespierre. This resulted in the collapse of revolutionary fervour and ended Reign of Terror in France. The Girondons gain more power because of this.

The Directory was a committee which governed France when it replaced the Committee of Public Safety. Eventually, it was overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte where it was replaced by the French Consulate. Lasted 4 years.

Napoleon Bonaparte was brought to power by the coup of 18 Brumaireas as the First Consul of France, and ended the French Revolution to the opinion of historians. This lead to the overthrow of the Directory, replacing it with the French Consulate.

The French invasion of Russia began on 24 June 1812 when Napoleon's Grande Armée crossed the Neman River in an attempt to engage and defeat the Russian army and it was a total disaster. Napoleon invaded Russia at the head of an army of over 600,000 men but at the start of 1813 only 93,000 of them were still alive and still with the army.

The Battle of Waterloo was the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte who conquered much of continental Europe. He was exiled to St. Helena afterwards and later died of a supposed stomach illness.
