    Louis XVI calls for the estates, and the first and second estates dominate because they vote by order and head. The thried estate goes to the kings tennis courts to host a National Essembly. They vowed to meeet until France has a constitution and laws.

    King Louis XVi was forced to call the States General. The States General hadn't been called since 1614. He wanted them to agree to a finacial recunstruction plan that he had concocted for France.

    The Third Estate was locked out of thr National Assembly because the first and second estates had more control over them. Since they were locked out, they decided to gather on the tennis court. They made an agreement that they refused to leave until a Constitution was created for France.

    On this day the peasents attacked the Bastille and freed all the prisoners they believed to be wrongly accused; moreover, this riot arroused similar raids throught France.

    National Assembly did away with aristocratic privileges
    The National Assembly came up with Liberte, Egalite, Fratennite, or Liberty, Equaltiy and Brotherhood.
    They also wrote the Declaration of Rights of Man, and called for a limited monarchy.
  • Women March For Bread

    This was marked as one of the most important events of the French Revolution. When the women went to the market and the bread prices were through the roof. The women were enraged by the food prices that were already barely affordable to begin with before inflation. As they marched many women and even man joined in with them .They were planning on rioting against the monarch.

    King Louis XVI was tried for high treson in front of the National Convention and was found guilty by a large majority. He was executed by the guillotine infront of the people by the Mountain Jacobins at the Place de la Revolution, also known as the Revolution Square. Because his neck was too thick, the guillotine had to dropped several times in order to fully decapitate him; Louis was the first victim of the Reign of Terror. His wife Marie Antoinette was also guillotined on October the 16th.

    The gates of France were locked and the wealthy, and those associated with the wealthy were executed. Thousands of people were executed.

    The directory was a five man rulling force that was composed of mostly intelectuals. They controled the army which they were dependent on, and created a new constitution.

    Napoleon was given comand in order to interfear with English trade in the Medditeranian by invading Egypt; consequently, the navy lost to Lord Nelson.

    The French are deafeated by the English.

    Conquests (1805-1812)
    Napoleon went on a conquest through all of Europe into Russia, creating puppet monarchs. By 1812 he had conquered all of continental Europe from southern Italy to the Baltic and from Portugal to Poland. His conquest was succeful until he was defeated by the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1812. This was just the beginning of his fall.

    After Nepoleon devorces his wife Josephine and remaried her grand Niece, France was blockaded by the British which forced him to invade Russia; this invation was one of the biggest mistake of Napoleons career. Russia scorged all of their own crops to starve out Napoleon's soldiers. His 422,000 troops turned into 28,000 survivors of the cold Russian winter.

    Nepoleon's new army of amatures was annhailited by Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden. As a result of his defeat Paris was taken.

    In this battle Nepoleon lost because he did not have nails to plug his cannons with. His enamies yoused these canons against him, and as a result he was defeated once again. After being defeated he was banished to St. Helana.
