  • Enlightenment Ideas

    People ideas were changed due to new ones being introduces by various philosophers. This made people change their ways.
  • The Privileged Estates

    A special and exclusive legal advantage or right such as a benefit, exemption, power or immunity. The privileged estates had privileges like access to high office and no taxes.
  • Ancient Regime

    During this time their was a lot of tension, society was un equal, people paid a lot of taxes, their was absolute monarchy so this led up to the French Revolution.
  • Calling of the Estates General

    Their was a meeting of all the estates held by King Louis XIV. They had not met since 1614 so the meeting was not very organised or effective. The first and second estates agreed on a lot of decisions while others didn't.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Their was an attack on a prison on Paris by an angry mob. This later meant monarchy to the people, they view it as a sign for what was happening and what happened.
  • Flight of Louis XIV

    King Louis and a few of his family members attempted escaping Paris in hope of starting a counter revolution at the head of loyal troops under royalist officers near the frontier. They didn't get far before they were recognised and arrested.
  • Declaration of War on Austria

    Revolutionaries wanted war because they thought it was the only way to unify the country. They spread the idea through all Europe until on April the Legislative Assembly finally declared war on April 20, 1791
  • Execution of Louis XVI

    King Louis was finally executed by guillotine one day after being convicted of conspiracy with foreign powers and sentenced to death by the French National Convention.
  • Monarchy is no longer in charge

    The tradition of monarchy was broken by the republican Commonwealth of England, which followed the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.
