The National Assembly was created because the Third Estate was tired of being overpowered by the Clergy and the Royalty. Thus they rebelled and created their own group to have more say in government.

The assembly was locked out of their usual meeting spot so they assembled in a tennis court and made an oath. The oath was that they would agree not to separate and assemble where ever circumstances take them anymore until a new constitution was created.

Robespierre was denounced by member of the National Convention leading to multiple other associates. All of them were arrested and beheaded the following day.

The Committee of Public Safety was created for the sole purpose of the protection of the citizens against foreign attacks and internal rebellions. As the Committee tried to meet the dangers of a coalition of European nations and counter-revolutionary forces within the country, it became more and more powerful.

The Directory was created after the Committee of Public Safety was disbanded. It was put in place to govern the country but was eventually overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte.

After two years of work, the Directory ended the Jacobin's reign of terror. Mass executions had stopped, exiles relaxed, and the Jacobin political party disbanded

After several defeats the French military was suffering major penalties and debt. The victories against the Netherlands and Switzerland restored the French military positions but eventually the Directory lost support and when Napoleon returned from exile, he abolished the Directory
