Because of the Constitution of 1795, the French Directory was made. It consisted of five men that had the executive power in France. They were established to help the bankrupt nation.

Because of all the difficult wars and winnings, the French felt as if their nation was a family. They felt pride in their country and were devoted to protecting and serving their country. With the help of Napoleon selling nationalism to tall, everyone felt united.

People turned to Napoleon, a war hero, for help. He began to give people hope and was a big part of turning the country around.
