    Estates General Meeting
    The Estates General Meeting had not met in 175 years, they were meeting because King Louis wanted to raise the taxes and the first and second estates could outvote the third estate, even though they only made up 3% of the population. The third estate wanted to try and change this, however, when the deputies from the third estate got there they were locked out.

    When the deputies from the third estate are locked out of the meeting they decide to form the National Assembly. They choose to name it this because they are a true representation of France and its people.

    The new National Assembly meets on a tennis court because there is no other place and they swear on the Tennis Court Oath. In it they declare that they are not going to stop until the constitution is changed.
