    Estate general called
    The country of france had an absolute monarchy and the people were poor. The king at the time King louis XVI was very bad at his job and spending all his money on partying and leaving the people in ruins. They were broke poor and starving to death. The kind did not care how bad the conditions were and the people were getting very upset and starting to riot. So instead of making a desicioun the king called the national assembly to try to amke a decision which just made it worse.

  • The storming of the Bastille

    The storming of the Bastille
    This event happend when the 3rd estate was so tired of the king and his ways. They had obtained a bunch of firearms but had not gunpowder. so they strormed the bastillies in france. This was to gain the gunpowder they needed as well as to kill the prisons gaurds and the leader of the prison. In doing this they also freed 7 prisononers that the king had put there. After strorming the prison the people were no longer powerless and could now start the "real" revolution.

    The way frances absolute monarchy worked was, The first two estates had more votes in the goverment system than the third estate. This led to the third class paying tons of taxes and getting nothing of what they wanted. So they decided to make up there own political system so they could get what they wanted. This was called the national assembly and was made up of a couple 2nd estate people but almost all of them were 3rd estate. The national assembly was alot more fair to the 3rd estate.

    The national assembly was going to meet in the goverment building but King louis XVI had locked them out, in hopes of dismantaling this organization. So when they realized he did this, they walked down the street to a tennis court and met there. While meeting there everyone in this organization took the tennis counrt oath saying"To not stop meeting till france had a constitution." Preaty much saying they werent leaving till the king was powerless.

    At this point in france it was still a absolut monarchy and King Loius XVI was still king. He was living like a king in Versailles and didnt even care to see the poverty in parris. So a very large group of women that had preaty well nothing to eat got a bunch of pitchforks and marched to versailles. They forced to the king out of his palace and forced him to march to parris. When living in parris he was able to see all the poverty and he was not able to live his rich lifestyle.

    The king was stripped of his divine right of kings and no longer had full power. Although he was still there the constitution caused the people to hold lots of the power and the king to have very little. The power was now split between the national assembly and the king. This was the start of the end for the king

    At this point the poeple had had enogh of the king and his spending issues, So the national gaurd stormed the palace and ended the constitutional monarchy. And after this point the national assembly was in complete control of france, and it was offically a republic.

    The poeople of france hated the king and queen alot. They also didnt want a monarchy again so the national convention decided that they were going to be beheaded. On the days on Jan 21, and Oct 19 they were beheaded. As well as the fact that there children were beheaded arouned this time as well.

    the french goverment had started a brutal crackdown on anyone believed to be anti revolutionary. They also arested and killed anyone who believed to take pitty on the king. In all around 20,000 people were arested and around 17,000 were executed. most of these executionions took place under the wishes of maximilien derobespierre.

    The brutal events of the reign of terror came to an end when Miximilien de robespierre was beheaded. This was at the orders of the rebublic cause they had enogh of people being executed. He was mainly the one causing the executions and killed alot of inocent people.
