    France's Economy Declines
    France and it's economy had once been properous, but it was slowly losing money. Many people in the country were afraid that they would lose their money, especially the people in the Third Estate. They did not like the fact that King Louis XVI and his wife were spending all of the country's money.
    This is one of the most important events of the French Revolution because without the loss of the money and the excessive spending of the royals the poor people wouldn't have had a reason to revolt.

    Tennis Court Oath
    The Tennis Court Oath was created when the delegates from the Third Estate were locked out of their meeting room. They then decided that they would break into an indoor tennis room and make a new constitution. They even vowed not to leave until they had done so. This is an important events of the French Revolution because it shows the people now feel the need for change and will continue until they get it.

    Fall of Bastille
    An angry mob attacked the prizon Bastille in Paris. 100 people were killed. The angry people did this so that they could have weapons to defend their city. This was an important event of the French Revolution because the people started to seize control and take it wherever they could.

    Rumors started to fly around the countryside about the nobles. The peasants feared that the nobles were gathering people to terrorize them. This caused the peasants to panick and attack the nobles. This is an important event of the French Revolution because the peasants were not going to tolerate the people who would not treat them like equals.

    The women of France were unhappy with the higher priced bread. They decided to attack bread carts and even attacked the palace, killing some guards. This drove the king and queen out of the palace, never to return.
    This was one of the most important events of the French Revolution because it drove out the most powerful people in the country, allowing others to take power.

    French Revolutionists Declare War With Austria and Prussia
    Austria and Prussia tried to get France to restore Louis XVI to his position, but the revolutionists would hear nothing about it. They did not want a monarch to rule over them. So in April 1792, France declared war with Austria and Prussia.
    This was one of the most important events of the French Revolution because it was a war to keep away the people who would try to keep a firm hold on the civilians and not give them what they want.

    Many Other Countries Went Against France
    Holland, Spain and Great Britain decided that they would join the war with the French on the side of the Austrians and Prussians. This created a change of events for the French. They started to lose the battles. So the country drafted about 300,000 men and women for their army.
    This was one of the most important events of the French Revolution because it changed the course of the war for freedom from monarchs.

    There were also people inside the country that did not like the revolution. Earlier in the year, Maximilien Robespierre gained power and decided that anybody that did not agree with the revolution would be killed. This started the Reign of Terror.
    This was one of the most important events of the French Revolution because it helped people to realize that one person with all the power is dangerous.

    Reign of Terror
    The Reign of Terror was the reign of Maximilien Robespierre, a dictator of France during the war with the surrounding countries. As many as 40,000 people were killed for stupid reasons that made no sense becuase Robespierre did not like them. His reign ended on July 28, 1794 when he was sentenced to the guillotine.
    This was one of the most important events of the French Revolution because it was the uprooting of another bad ruler that would allow for the French to find a better government.
