  • Banks Refuse to lend Money

    Banks Refuse to lend Money
    King Louis had encountered a serious problem. Since he was in juge debt because of war and mindless entertainment, the banks refused to lend him money. They didn't think that they would get their return on the money back
  • Meeting of the Estates-Generals

    The Estates-Generals was an assembly with representatives from each Estate in France. King Louis wanted to create more taxes in order to pay the dept. But the second Estatete forced him to make a meeting of the Estates-Generals before making this decision
  • Vote to Establish National Assembly

    Through vote, the National assembly was officialy establish. It would have representatives from all three estates. This forced the King to share power thus eliminating Absolute Monarchy in France.
  • Bastile Day

    Bastile Day
    A mob searching for gunpowder and arms stormed in the Bastille, a prison in Paris. The beat the guards, and took control of the building. They killed the guards and then went out on the street with dead heads of guards.
  • Nobleman Speech

    Some Noblemen made a grand speech, declaring their love of liberty and equality. They joined the National assembly in taking out the forst and second estate. By Morning, the old regime was dead
  • Declaration of Rights of Men

    Declaration of rights of Men and the citizens was passed by the National Assembly. These rights included “liberty, property, security and resistance to oppression.”
  • Women Riot over Price of Bread

    Thousands of women rioted over the rising price of bread,, demanding the National Assembly to lower the price. They broke into the Royal palace and demanded the King and Queen to return to Paris, but the King suddenly left Versailles. This was a sign that the King was loosing power

  • Royal Family Attempts to Flee

    King Louis and his family tried to escape France, but were apprerhended and brought back to Paris under guards.
  • Constitutional Monarchy Created

    The National Assembly completed a new constitution and the King was forced to accept. This created a Constitutional Monarchy, and this took a lot of power away from the King. It also created the Legislative Assembly.
  • France Declares War

    The Legislative army declared war to any Country who opposed of their ideas
  • Men Invade the Tuileries

    20,000 men and women invaded the Tuileries, the palace where the royal family was staying. The mob massacred the royal guards and imprisoned King Louis, Marie Antoinette and their children.
  • September Massacres

    A whole month where a wave of killing occured. Fear that enemy Countries would attack and fear that inmates of the prison would revolt created chaos
  • Monarchy Eliminated

    The long lasting Monarchy was oficially eliminated in France
  • Execution of King Louis XVI

    King Louis XVI was beheaded by a guilotine in the "Place de la Revolution"
