  • Estates-General

    Estates-General
    The King called for the Estates-General in which the three states were involved, the King hopes to get more revenue. 1st and 2nd states vote against any changes. The meeting hasn't been called in 175 years, this showed the King's lack of ability to lead. The system of voting is unfair because the King is biased about who he chooses.
  • National Assembly

    National Assembly
    The third state demanded that changes had to be made in how the France economy was. So that people had food like bread to eat. National Assembly was formed inside the tennis court. They wanted freedom and they had enough of discrimination by the King. They wanted to move away from Absolute monarchy and towards the constitution.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    After the King locked the third state out, they decided to go to the tennis court and that is where they formed the National Assembly. they sign a document Declaration of the rights of men and the citizen. The point of the declaration was that ¨ all men are born, and remain free and equal¨. The people wanted constitutional monarchy (government for the people) the idea of equality begins and King not listening to the third state started the revolution.

    The Storming of the Bastille
    An angry mob attacked the prison in Paris, They stormed the prison and killed guards, got guns and other weapons. They were hoping to gain ammunition and save the prisoners as well. But only seven prisoners were freed. This event specifically the French prison sparked the revolution.

    Constitutional Monarchy
    In the first year, the people abolished feudalism (working on land for somebody else). They slowly moved away from Absolute Monarchy and towards constitutional monarchy. After that, the king was no longer the most power but rather the people had equal rights and votes.

    France became republic after they got rid of absolute monarchy. 'Declaration of the Rights of Men'. The constitutional monarchy wasn't working due to mass murder and violence that caused the reign of terror. National symbols focused on the citizens instead of nobility and or church

    King Louis and Marie beheaded
    King Louis and his wife were beheaded in public for treason. The King cared less about the poor and their financial issues which led to France's downfall. After the women's march to versailles they created collective consciousness to achieve their goals. After French had nationalism the rest of Europe and the world slowly adapted as well.

    Reign of Terror Begins
    Execution of counter-revolutionist begin, Robespierre was in charge of the Reign of Terror. The terror lasted long time and it created violence in France. They would murder anyone who they thought was an enemy to the revolution. They wanted to protect their country and they feared that some people might restore absolute monarchy. The Reign of Terror ended when Robespierre himself was executed in the same place as the King Louis.
  • Reign of Terror Ends

    Reign of Terror Ends
    The reign of terror ended when people had enough of the murders that were happening. Because if you were speaking about prices being fair you would probably be executed. The amount of murders that were happening in public frightened the people. The terror ended when Robespierre was arrested and executed in 1794.
