  • The call of the Estates General

    The king Louis XVI called the Estates General. The last celebration of the Estates General was in the year 1614. The king wanted to approve new taxes.
  • Opening of the Estates General

    The celebration of the Estates General start in the palace of Versailles. In the Palace were together the threes estates: noblemen, clergymen and peasants.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    While the Estates General was celebrating, the third estate and some clergymen went out and they locked in a different place, because they wanted to change France and they wanted established a constitution for France.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    The storming of the Bastille symbolized the end of the Old Regime and the beginning of the French Revoulution. It was produced because people was discontent with the new taxes that Louis XVI want to put and with the situation of the workers in France; it resulted in many revolts along all the country.
  • The Assembly adopts The Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen

    It was the based of the Constitution that it will be adopts by France in 1791.The concepts in the Declaration come from the philosophical and political principles of the Age of Enlightenment, such as individualism, the social contract as theorized by Rousseau, and the separation of powers espoused by Montesquieu. It was the based of most Constitution that are actually in many countries.

    It was the first written constitution in France. One of the basic precepts of the revolution was adopting constitutionality and establishing popular sovereignty, following the steps of the United States of America.
  • The First Republic in France

    The monarchy is abolished, so the First French Republic is proclaimed.
  • Louis XVI is guillotined

    Louis XVI was caught before, and then people decided that the royal family had to be decapitated.
  • Napoleon became Emperor of France

    At first, Napoleon was the First Consul,five years later the French Senate proclaimed him emperor. Historians say that this date is considered the end of French Revolution.
