Meeting of the states general
The French economy was in distress and Louis XVI's plans to make money were put down so he was forced to call a meeting of the estates general. For the first time since 1614 the three estates clergy, nobility and commons presente their problems to the king and together came up with a new tax plan. -
Storming of the Bastille
The storming of the bastille was an attempt to gain arms and munnitions for the republic. This was a major event in The French Revolution that ultimately caused social disorder. -
The Declaration of rights of man
The french people thought that all the corruption and terrible things done by the french government could be solved by making this declaration. It includes articles saying thingsw like all men are equal, the purpose of government etc. -
Womens march to Versailles
The women of Paris disgruntled about not having bread marched to Versailles to speak with the king. The national guard eventually got involved and the king finally said that he would go to Paris with his family. -
Louis flee
King Louis XVI and his family were caught fleeing from Paris. He was incarcerated for this. -
King Louis XVI sentenced to guillotine.
Louis XVI was sentenced to death because of his attempt to escape. The guillotine was the execution machine shown in the picture. -
The constitution of 1791
The constitution of 1791's purpose was to solve all the problems of an already corrupt poilitical system. It was done by september 1791 prefaced by the declaration of rights of man. -

Reign of Terror
Robespierre was an influential factor in the reign of terror. This gave him the power to influence who gets executed. They killed 16 to 40 thousand people and it ended with the death of Robespierre. -
Bread riots
The people of France had riots because of inflamation of bread. The farming situation was bad because of the tax on them so for the farmers to make money they had to increase prices. -
The Fall of the Directory
The fall of the directory was the event that ended the French revolution.Napoleon staged a military coup which overthrew the directory.
