    King Louis XVI calls body into session to approve a new tax on the 3rd Estate. Had not met in 175 years.
  • 3rd Estate refused to abide by the kings one vote for each estate order

    The votes were always 2 to 1, the First and Second against the Third.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    An oath that 576 members of the 3rd Estate signed on June 20, 1789. The only member that did not sign was Joseph Martin-Dauch.
