  • The voting in etates general is refused

    The 3rd Estate refuses to go by the rules of the king in the estate general. They demand a change in the voting.

    The King was in trouble. The nobility was not happy with his attempt to tax their estate. Nobility wanted to pass the cost once again on the third estate.

  • Tennis Court Oath

  • The Storming of the Bastille.

    For fear that King louis was going to use the military to silence the rebellion the Parisans stormed the Bastille. The cruel mayor was killed and displayed.
  • Great Fear begins

    People were fearful about how the King would respond. Rumors were spread that the king was hiring foreign soldier to punish the third estate.
  • National Assemby abolishes Feudalism

    In the Assembly people had voted to abolishe fuedal rights and several privelages of the nobility

    The Decleration laid out basic principles of the Frech revolution. Writers related it to the enlightenment thinkers also the U.S constitution.
  • Women of Paris march for bread

    A crowd of perhaps 7000 women marched to versailles and demanded bread. They broke into the palace and louis agreed to return to paris and libe in the tuileries palace with his family
  • Royal family's Flight from Varennes

    King louis and his family felt unsafe and wanted to start a counter- revolution and so they tried to flee when they caught.

    The the national assembly created a new legislative body called the legislative assembly.
  • Brunswick Manifesto warns the royal family must not be harmed

    Brunswick was the commander of the allied austrian and prussian army and he threatened that french civilians will be harmed

    A big mob stormed the palace and killed the gaurds and then they grabbed the family and put them in jail.
  • French monarchy is offivially abolished

    revolutionary gov't votes to abolish the monarchy and establish the first republic.
  • French defeat foreign invaders who are attempting to preserve the monarchy

    france turns the tide of the war and takes the offensive against the invaders.
  • the execution of King louis XVI in Paris

    He was sentenced to death for treason. Streets were quiet and not much support for louis.
  • Committe of safe public

    Was formed to give the general public safety during wartime. To protect civilians during the war.
  • Law of Suspects reign of terror on france

    this law allowed people to accuse others of supporting tyranny with body language words or actions.
  • End of reign of terror

    the law of suspects didnt bring a communitte together but just caused bloodshed. Robespiere was overthrown
  • National convention is dissolved and creation of the directorate

    under the terms of the new constitution the national convention dissolved. It was replaced by a council of five hundred.
  • Napoleon named the first consule

    Napoleon named himself first consul after a coup d'etat. He changed the consitution so that he will be able to keep his power.
