Robespierre, leader during the raign of terror, was arrested and beheaded. People blamed him tragic reign of terror when most of the blame should've gone to others. -

Napoleon Bonaparte, the current ruler of France at the time, overthrew the Directory and replaced it with a Consulate or 3 members. -

Napoleon took away the people's liberty by crowning to be an emperor. Power had gotten the best of him. -

Danglars freed from The Count's Prison
Danglars ended up getting captured by The Count who forced him to starve to his limits. Then The Count let him free once he felt Danglars had had enough torment. -
Reunited and Saved
After almost killing himself, Maximilien gets to be with his lover once more as Valentine comes back to him. The Count of Monte Cristo had saved her.
