Meeting ot the Estates General
Estates general came together because france was having finacial problems, they were finding more ways how to tax the 3rd Estates. 3rd Estates did not like it because it wasnt fair. Their corruption and equality. Has been 175 years sinces they met. The voting for the new taxes were unfair.On June 17th 1789 the 3rd estates claimed themselves a Legislature National asssmebly. -
Creation of the National Assembly
Estates General met at Versailles, the members of the 3rd estate declared themselves to be the National Assembly with the rights to make france laws. -
Storming of the Bastille
Louis made a serious mistake and caused a revolution order troops to Paris and Versailles in case he needed to protect the Monarchy Forces. The National Assembly afraid King Louis was going to attack so the people of paris armed themselves. July14, 1789 a mob of Parisians went to Bastille a ancient prison looking for weapon. The Bastille was a symbol of a medieval buildings. A mob of people killed the commander of the prison. -
Creating a New Nation
The National Assembly eliminated all the feudal dues and services that the peasants owed the land-owners. The 1st Estates legal benefits. The Basic principles of the French Revolutions Liberty,Equality,Fraternity. The rights the Declaration of the rights of man and of citizen were that all men are born equal and remain equal before the law. -
Spread of Fear
The Parisians were afraid that the king would use violence and punish them with the guillotine.The Great Fear was panic because of false rumors that King Louis brought in Foregin Soliders sent to kill the people of the 3rd estates. Peasants took action in this time againist land-owners by destorying all records and burned Nobles houses. -
End of Monarchy
Claimed France a Republic tried and executed Louis for treason.The First act of the National convention was to arrange laws and creating publiced system. Abolished Slavery in french colonies. Wrote a new constituion and created the directory. -
Reign of Terror
Creating a new wave of fear throughout the country. Around 16,000 to 40,000 were killed most middle class workers or peasants accuesed of desertion hoarding food on acts againist the government. -
Execution of the King
King Louis was executed on Jan. 21, 1973, he was killed with the guillotine. The more powerful montagnards were eager to try and executed the king.
