    Inspired by the American Revolution, the French Revolution was a period in France when French citizens protested against the political system in France. During this time, there was a lot of bloodshed, but the French did achieve many of their goals, such as equality for all citizens.

    Necker Is Fired From His Job As The Finance MInister Of France.
    Jacques Necker was first fired in 1781 for publishing a letter that let the citizens of France see the Royal Family's expenses. Fortunately fo r Necker, he was very popular with the public and so King Louis XVI was forced to rehire him on the 25th of August, 1788 to help with the debt problem. He was fired again in July for his stand in a meeting, but was hired back five days after. This was because citizens of Paris stormed on the Bastille on the 14th of July, three days after Necker was fired.

    King Louis XVI Tries to Flee Paris
    King Louis XVI tried to flee Paris with his wife and children in order to get foreign aid to help him to rebuild his authority as the King of France. However, they were recognized at Varennes, captured, arrested, and forced to return to Paris. On July 15, 1791, the Assembly restores the King's power, and causes a riot of people protesting the restoration of the king two days later.

    In France, the government has been overthrown, and people all around are calling for war, tough for very different reasons. The people in favor of King Louis XVI wanted war because they hoped that the government would be too weak to withstand attack, but the people who overthrew him in the first place wanted war to help spread their ideas of the revolution. On the 20th of April, they retreat when they see their competition. They don't start doing well until theirfirst major victory in September.

    King Louis XVI is Executed.
    King Louis is executed 41 days after his trial began in december. Only a day after he is convicted of cooperating with foriegn powers, he is sentenced to death. He was executed in the Place de la Revolution, Paris, by the guillotine.

    Constitution of the Year III is Made.

    Napoleon  is Commander of the French Army
    Napoleon becomes the commander of the French army in Italy. He defeats the Austrian armies and their allies' armies. While he was commander, he managed to conquer most of Northern Italy and also Egypt; effectively stopping the British's trading route with India.

    Supporters of Babeuf and Himself take their own lives.
    Babeuf created the conspiracy against the French government. His followers, along with himself were trying to get France to become a pure democracy. The leaders of the conspiracy were arrested on May 10, 1796, and their followersatatempt to attack the Palace of the Directorate, but fail on the 7th of sedptember that same year. Babeuf and followers were convicted on May 27, 1797, but chose to take their own lives instead of having them taken from them by the French Government.

    Napoleon Bonaparte becomes the First Consul in a three consul system, along with Pierre-Roger Ducos and Emmanuel-Joseph Sieyès. However, this system was flawed, as only Napoleon had power. Napoleon dissolved the Consulate when he announced himself as the Emporer of France in 1804
