  • Choosing Gear

    Choosing Gear
During Baseball, I didn't have nice, new gear but everyone was coming to practice with new gloves and cleats. I couldn't buy new gear because I had already bought new snowboard gear and some clothes. I had to realise that I wouldn't have the nicest gear in everything because my parents couldn't buy me the newest gear every year. This was hard because one of my biggest values is sporting equipment and I have pride in my stuff(Impacted Me/Family)
  • New York Trip

    New York Trip
Last year was the sign up for the New York trip with the art class. I really wanted to go because I thought it would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately my family was building a house during this time so I couldn’t go. It sucked because my number one value is travel and this would be a great popular to travel on my own. In the end, I was fine and I forgot all about after summer. (Impacts High School)
  • First Job

    First Job
I got my first job at Downtown Marina.Finances affected this because I wanted to buy new snowboard gear but my parents didn't want to buy this for me. This caused me to get a job and then I could make enough money to buy what I wanted. This is good because I also value independence and this helped me in achieving that (Impacted Me/Family)
  • Money or Sports

    Money or Sports
I had to choose between having a job or playing football. This was a hard choice because I really wanted to make money but I also wanted to play football. In the end I had to quit my job to play football because I decided that I have my whole life to make money but only high school to play football. I needed to ask myself if I valued the fun of football or the independence of a job.(Impacted Me/Family)
  • Car

    Car
When I turn 16/17, I want to buy a car. In order to do this I will have to save my money and work hard. This might me hard because some of my friends will be able to buy nice clothes and sports gear, but I will have to hold off in order to have enough. This is something I’m still thinking about, because I wouldn’t put having a car high on my list of values, but I still really want to own my first car and it will help me develop more independence. (Impacts High School)
  • Lake O’hara

    Lake O’hara
Similar to the New York trip, I value travel travel and independence above most other things and this would be a super fun experience. It is also in the middle of the football season, expensive and in the way of a job. Even if I am allowed to go because of the price, I still have to make the decision of a job and football or Lake O’hara. I will need to think of what I value more and what will benefit me the most. (Impacts High School)
  • Student Loans

    Student Loans
I plan to go to university and this is very expensive. To pay I will need to take out a student loan and work hard in order to pay this back. This will eventually pay me back because I will be able to use my degrees to get a job. This is inline with many jobs that I want to pursue so it is in my best interest to go to school after high school. (Post-Grad)
  • Gap Year

    Gap Year
If I do take a gap year I would try and travel the world. If I don’t take a gap year, I am hoping to take a year to travel the world after university. Either way, I will need to save enough money over time and find simple jobs throughout my travels in order to continue travelling. This is an important value to me because I really want to travel, but the whole trip is dependent on money because I need to be able to afford food, a place to stay and transportation. (Post-Grad)
  • Buying a House

    Buying a House
Eventually, I will need to have a place to stay. This is a necessity but the kind of house and where is dependent on how successful I am in life. I hope to move to a bigger city like New York, LA or San Diego and live in a nice apartment. This is probably a bit unrealistic because the cost to live in any of these places is very high. However I am prepared to work very hard in life and generate enough money to live here because I value the outdoors and sports. Living here would open this up.(PG)
