Many Roman armies said their generals emperor, and the legions fought each other, and didn't defend. 50 emperors where named, and less than 20 got to Rome. None died of natural causes. Eventually, a man named Diocletian stopped the violence, and became emperor in 284.

The refugee Visigoths were being badly treated by the Romans, and in 378, they destroyed a whole Roman army and killed the emperor, Valens. Theodosius, the Emperor, calmed them down in the Balkans.
