    James I

    James I took the throne after Elizabeth I passed away. He carried the debt for his rein but didn't do much beside offend parliament because he would not reform the English church. He refused everything except the translation of the bible.

    The death of the Queen!
    Queen Elizabeth I left massive debt with her death. This debt was left for her subjects and the entire kingdom. This created more conflict between the royals and the parliament.

    Charles I vs. Parliment

    After James I passed his son Charles took over. King Charles the First fought with parliament for many years breaking agreements and being an unjust and wicked king. Parliament was a form of a legislative branch with would help govern England along the side of the monarchy. Parliament had made an agreement, the petition of rights, with King Charles I, but Charles soon broke this agreement. He was later accused of treason and executed publicly.

    For the people and gave the king rules. There were four main points to it. Basically; [1] a needed cause to imprison [2] The parliament’s consent on taxes [3] not to house soldiers in private housing [4] no martial law in peacetime
    It gave liberty to the people.

    English Civil war and Oliver Cromwell

    Before Charles was executed there was a lot of disturbance in England. It broke into two sides, the puritans and the royalists. They fought over who would have the power over England. One of the causes of the uproar was because the Autumn laws of 1649 where it limited the power of Royalty. Oliver Cromwell, a puritan and previous general of war, helped win the war over England. After it was won he got rid of the monarchy in Ireland and England.

    Charles II

    After Cromwell died Charles II, the son of Charles I, restored the monarchy. More laws were passed to give prisoners rights.

    Tried to make religious liberty for England. He faced rebellions and lots of drama.

    Mary and William

    Mary was James I daughter and William was her husband. William got the throne of England and created a settlement between royalty and parliament. This also created the bill of rights for England.
