  • Battle of Tippecanoe Creek

    Battle of Tippecanoe Creek
    In 1811, General William Henry Harrison defeated the Indians. This historical event is important because it was a major win and brought America one stpe closer to defeating the British and fighting against the Indians.
  • Hull surrender Detroit

    U.S. forces were defeated by Great Britain and Tecumseh's forces. This event was important because the defeat was so embarassing and it also chased tehm out of Canada, which scared Hull into surrendering Detroit without a shot fired.
  • Battle of St. Thames

    Battle of St. Thames
    British and Indians retreat to Canada. General William Henry Harrison defeats the British, Americans win the Battle of St. Thames. It was important because at the battle Tecumseh was killed, causing the Indians to end their support for the British. But near the end of 1813, the British struck back and seized Fort Niagara, and burned Buffaloe and neighboring villages.
  • Battle of Lake Erie

    US Naval Commander Oliver Hazard Perry captured a British fleet on Lake Erie. It is because it forced the British out of Detroit, which saved another American city. Also this naval victory, gave the U.S. control of the Great Lakes.
  • Napolean's defeat in Europe

    Napolean's loss with Europe casued British forces to focus on the war at hand with America. It is important because more British troops came to fight, making it harder for the U.S. to win the war. Also, it lead to the Birtish raiding Chesapeake Bay/
  • Battle of Lundy's Lane

    Americans captured York, and held for a short time, and a number of public buildings were burnt. The Americans were slowly gaining more land. They started winning more battles and fighting back. Britain at the Battle of Lundy’s Lane.
  • Britain burned Washington

    Britain burned Washington
    As large numbers of troops arrived, British forces raided the Chesapeake Bay. Then they moved in on the U.S. capital, capturing Washington D.C., on August 24, 1814, and burning government buildings including the Captitol and the White House. James Madison and Congress escapes Washington D.C. just in time to escape the attack. It is an importsnt event because America's capital was destroyed and the president had no place for the democrcay to be formed, meaning the White House.
  • British Attacked Baltimore

    Britain bombarded Fort McHenry. It is important because Francis Scott Key wrote the "Star Spangled Banner" base don the sight of the enormoud American falg being lifted by American soldiers during the fight.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The British fought with the Americans at New Orleans, but were defeated by future preesident Andrew Jackson's army. This event is important because it boosted American's spirit and left them with the taste of victory, even without the pre-war objectives.
