    Constantine finds Byzantine capital
    Because Byzantine lay on the European side of the Strait of Bosporus, Constantine understood its strategic importance and when he reunited the empire he called the capital city Constantinople.

    General Belisarius military campaigns

    In 527 Justinian commanded General Belisarius and his army to deal/beat the Sassanian. General Belisarius was able to defeat the bigger Sassanian army in 530 in the Battle of Dara. Even though in the Battle of Callinicum in 531 AD ended with the Sassanian winning, their still a peace agreement between Byzantine and the Sassanian.

    Nika riots
    The Nika riots went against Emperor Justinian I. It went over a week in Constantinople in 532 AD. There were to different people, the blues and the greens. When Anastasius abolished the venationes and the pantomimes, the amphitheater and theatre were gone. It made people blame Emperor Justinian.

    Hagia Sophia

    After riots and a devastating fire took over Constantinople, Justinian wanted Rome to restore its glory so he came up with Hagia Sophia.

    Early Islamic conquest

    In655 in the battle of mast under the control of Uthman ibn affan the Muslim naval draft Byzantine. In 677 Muslims send a large fleet to break Constantinople but they fail.

    In 986, emperor Basil II gathered 30,000 men to march to the Bulgarian city called Sofia. He wanted to seize it but then got defeated by Samuel. But he took small towns and areas.

    The great schism was the split between eastern and western Christian churches. Their were differences the divided them both like eastern people celebrated Easter but western people didnt. They both had different traditions.

    Emperor Alexios knew he couldn't stop the Turks from invading, so because Byzantine had been the center of Christianity, he felt confident in asking the Pope. He sent a letter asking to send arm forces to Eastern Rome to drive out the Turks.

    After ten centuries of war, defeat, and victory, the Byzantine empire came to an end when Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Turks. The Ottoman killed the emperor as he attempted a counterattack with the rest of his defenders. After they killed the emperor they took the rest of city.
