Piaget

Developmental Psychology Timeline

  • Prenatal development: Fetus

    Prenatal development: Fetus
This was the final stage before I was born, around 8 weeks after conception. This is the prenatal phase, where I was a vertebrate between emryonic state and birth.
  • The Sensorimotor Period

    The Sensorimotor Period
This happend from my birth till I was 2 years old. During this time Piaget studied that a child's cognitive system has very limited motor reflexes. From birth to two years old the child builds on these limited reflexes to develop sophisticated ones. This is basically the period where I learned based on physical interaction and experiences. An example is when someone would touch a sensitive spot at the bottom of my foot, my toes would curl as a reaction to this tickalish feeling
  • Physchosocial Development Stage 1, Trust Vs. Mistrust

Physchosocial Development Stage 1, Trust Vs. Mistrust
This stage occured to be between my birth and my first birthday. This stage is very important since it was when i learned to trust, depending on the quiality the caregiving of my mother and father. For example I would trust her in her presence feeling secure, but whenever she would leave I would start crying and feel fear.
  • My Birth

    My Birth
This is when I was out of my mothers womb, into the real world. This is when my lungs would adapt to breath in oxygen, and when the umbillical chord is cut off since the nutrients will no longer be from my belly button but instead from what I eat
  • PreOperational Thought

    PreOperational Thought
This stage from 2-7 years old is where Iearning was not logical. The skill of language and mental immagery were developing for me. This is also the stage of egocentric view, that the world was evolving around myself. An example is if my father would ask me questions about what my brother would like, instead of actually being able to reflect and think about what he likes I instead list the things I would like. I also had trouble with operational thoughts as equal masses (shown in picture).
  • Industry vs. Inferiority

    Industry vs. Inferiority
This stage occured during my childhood of ages 5-11. During this stage whenever I was congratulated for something I would be more confident by positive reinforcement, and have belief in my skills and myself, such as reading. If positive comments were not received, many children would become insecure during this phase.
  • Formal Operational

    Formal Operational
This is Piaget's last step, when I was 11 years old I developed the most complex way of thinking, I started complex math. The new links that was made in my earlier stages is now strengthened, theoretical, hypothetical, counterfactual thinking and abstact logic and reasoning. Planing things to become possible, and applying what I learn into daily routines.
  • Concrete Operational

    Concrete Operational
This was from my age range of 7-11 years old. During this phase I understood more complex concepts such as time, space, and quantity. The trouble I had with the playdoh in a ball or spread out was no more, I understood that equal amounts are equal regardless of the shape or form.
  • Puberty

    Puberty
This phase is still happening to me today, from age 9-19 years old; where my body matures by being capable of sexual reproduction and fertilization. Hormoal signals all over the body from the brain, hair grows everywhere, brain developes even more, organs physically developes, and growth spurts usually happen in this phase.
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Intimacy vs. Isolation
This stages occured when I got my first girlfriend at the age of 16. This is when i developed personal relationships with the opposit sex. This stage was very vital since I became commited, and anyone who becomes commited usually has a succcessful relationship, while if you fail to be loyal you can be lonley, depressed and even isolate yourself from others.
  • Integrity vs. Despair

    Integrity vs. Despair
This stage I have yet to experience in my elderly years ranging from 50-85. These years i will be reflecting back on life, if I was succesful in life i would be proud of accomplishments and usually mention the same things, but if i have failed i would be waisting my life reliving specific moments I regretted such as not doing many things in my younger years.
  • Biological deterioration

    Biological deterioration
In my elderly years, ranging from 60+ my body will begin to biologically deteriorate. For example the ability to learn new skills will decline and so will the ability to learn new information. Ability to recognize information, and use previous knowledge as expertise will however not decline with age. I will have loss of brain cells and neural network connections and my brain will physically be smaller. My body will become weak, and I will have less control over emotions.
