    In 1947 Brtain decided to give up it's mandate of the land known as Palestine. They gave this region to the Jewish people who needed a refugee area after the Holocaust.

    On May 14, 1948 David Ben-Gurion declared the birth of the birth of the democratic State of Israel. The day after Israel declared its independence, armies from Syria, Lebanon, transjordan, and Iraq invaded Israel. This was the start of the first Araba-Israeli War.
