    Egypt demands that the United Nations removes its troops from Gaza and The Sinai Peninsula. Egypt troops then moved into the Sinai Peninsula and also into the Gulf of Aqaba, Israel's route to the Red Sea. Expecting a large-scale Arab attack, Israel decided to strike first. Israel launched air strikes against Egypt, Syria, and Jordan; destroying most of their airplanes on the ground. They then moved quickly and rapidly took control over a large part of the palestinan population.

    Determined to win back their territory back, Egypt and Syria launched the Yom Kippur War which was a surprise attack against Israel. With the help of the United States Israel managed to push back the Egyptians and Syrians. After weeks of fighting, both sides agreed to cease fire on October 20, 1973.

There, in 1978, Sadat and Begin reached an agreement known as the Camp David Accords which ended 30 years of hostility between Egypt and Israel.
