    Ended March of 1949 Israel declared independence from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq attacked Israel. Israel gained land.   • Six Day War or The 1967 War

    Six Day War or The 1967 War
    Lasted until June 10, 1967 Egypt blockaded Israel. Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq moved troops to Israel's borders and made threatening statements. Israel launched a preemptive strike. Israel captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the Gaza Strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. More Palestinians and Jews became refugees. Terrorism became more common.

    Considered to have ended in 2005, but others believe it is still ongoing. Ariel Sharon, the prime minister of Israel, made a vistit to the Temple Mount, a site revered by both Israelis and Palestinians. Palestinians began to throw rocks at him. Riots broke out and suicide bombers continued to create property and civilian damage. The progress of peace took a long time.

    The completion of the first continuous segment happened around July 2003 Israel built a security barrier that seperated citizens from the West Bank and from Israel. Cut off some Palestinians from their work and land, and as an effect, has become controversial. The wall has also significantly lowered the number of suicide bomber attacks

    The Arab League tried to make peace with the Israelis and gain its land back from before the 1967 War. Israel rejected the proposal because they wanted to keep that land, and the first Arab League official was sent into Israel as a result of the negotiations.

    The final draft was published on April 30th. The U.S, Russia, European Union, and United Nations tried to create peace with a three part plan guarenteeing an independent Palestine and secure Israel. It never got past the first steps as Hamas, a terrorist group, took control of Palestine.

    Gaza was completely evacuated by Israelis by the 12th of September. Ariel Sharon had Israel remove itself from Gaza and work on a barrier between the two countries. Israeli citizens became angry at the forced moved and a lot of terrorist attacks occured on Israel after the disengagement from Gaza

    Palestinians selected a lot of Hamas members over the P.L.O. Hamas wanted the destruction of Israel. Western nations would no longer aid the Palestinians unless they recognized Israel and ended the conflict.

    Ended on the 14th of August in 2006 An Islamist organization attacked Israel after crossing the Lebanon/Israel border. Many civilians lost their lives and there was a large amount of property damage. Afterwards, the U.N. forced a cease fire between the two.

    Ended on June 15th 2007 Hamas militants attacked the P.L.O in an attempt to take over the government. There are two governments between Palestine, P.L.O controls the West Bank and Hamas controls the Gaza Strip. There were some casualities as a result of the conflict.

    Ended January 18th 2009. Israel attacked the group, Hamas, to lessen the frequency of terrorist attackes and to stop Hamas' chances to resupply. Lots of civillians experienced injuries, death and property damage from the bombings and other raids.

    Israel created a blockade around the Gaza Strip to prevent weapons from being smuggled in by ship. 6 Turkish ships refused to avoid the blockade and Israel sent commandos to raid the ships.
