    In November 1947, United Nations planned to partition Palestine into Arab and Jewish divisions. Arabs were furious with the partition and declared civil war with the Israelis, but were defeated. Soon after, British proclaimed Israel independence.

    Beginning on June 5, Israelis attacked Egypt, Jordan, and Syria from belief of a attack that Arabs planned for Israel. Israeli rapidly defeated Arab Forces. The war ended on June 10, 1967 and with Israel gaining control of the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

    On Yom Kippur, Egyptian and Syrian troops attacked Israel in hopes to gained their territory back. With U.S help for Israel and weeks of fighting, both sides ceased fire.

    In 1977, Egypt had declared they wanted peace with Israel. The U.S, Israel, and Egypt signed a peace aggreement known as the Camp David Accords. After, Israel had returned the Sinai Peninsula back to Eygpt.
