    Six Day War
    Israel expected a large Arab attack, so they decided to strike first and launched airstrikes into Egypt, Syria, and Jordan. Israel took control of Golan Heights, Sinai Peninsula, Gaza strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    Egypt, Syria, and Jordan were determined to get back their land that they had lost during the Six Day War. With U.S. help they both decided to cease fire. OPEC had decided to refuse to sell oil to the U.S. because of their help with Israel.
  • Camp David Accords

    Camp David Accords
    Egypt wanted peace with Israel so U.S. president at the time invited them to the presidential retreat in Maryland where Egypt finally recognized Israel. This ended 30 years of hostility between the countries
  • Intifada

    Intifada
    Tensions were building up in Gaza and the West Bank where Israel was building settlements. This tension led to a rebellion known as intifada. Palestinian youths battled Israeli troops in street violence until the 1990s
  • Second Intifada

    Second Intifada
    In the second intifada, Palestinian youth and security were now involved. Israel sent tanks, jets, and helicopters into West Bank and Gaza. In the end, Israel left Gaza and the West Bank.
