  • Birthdate

    Birthdate
The day I was born was the day my parents lives changed. I was the second of four kids and they would need to figure out how to spend more efficiently with another member of the family. Mom and Dad needed to get "More for their buck."
  • Baby Brother is Born

    Baby Brother is Born
On this day we added another member to our family. When this happened my parents had to be further economically prepared and be converned for our financial security.
  • Baby Sister is Born

    Baby Sister is Born
My baby sister, Jess, was born in our van on our driveway in the very early hours of the morning. That is just a fun fact. My parents had to do the Benefit-Cost Analysis before having my sister. They weighed the benefits and the costs of another child and decided to give it another go with child number four.
  • 9/11 Attacks

    9/11 Attacks
The terrorist attacks on 9/11 effected everyone in the world. It was a major tragedy for our country. This was a time when my family and many others were not sure about how this would effect the nation economically and how stable it would be in the future.
  • Getting the Pool

    Getting the Pool
On this day we had a very nice and very big pool installed in our backyard. It was pretty expensive especially for a family of six people. This was a choice my parents made based off their wants and not their needs.
  • Loss of My Father

    Loss of My Father
On May 8th, 2004 my father was killed in a car accident. This left my mother alone with four children to care for. She would be paying much more explicit costs out of her own pocket now without the help of her spouse. However, through economic justice there is social security to help out our family.
  • Move to Colorado

In August of 2004 my family and I moved from Illinois to Colorado. It was devastating for me but my mother had to make the best choice for us. I believe it was something we needed financially and emotionally not just something my mom wanted.
  • Mother Re-Married

In October 2006 my mother re-married two years after the loss of my father. This was a choice that she wanted but the family needed. It provided financial security for our entire family.
  • Trip to New York

    Trip to New York
Summer of 2008 my mother, sister, and I took a very expensive trip to New York for baseball. Before going my mom had to weigh the benefits of the trip (lasting memories) with the cost of travel and hotel fees. Eventually we went based off our wants.
  • Senior Year

    Senior Year
Entering my Senior Year I have a ton of important choices to make. What classes to take and where to go to school next fall. With all of these choiced I must complete a Benefit-Cost Analysis for each of my decisions. I also need to consider what I need in my life versus what I want. I only have one senior year so I want to make it count.
