When I was in tenth grade, I was encouraged to register for the electronic typing class. This was my first time ever typing on such a device, other than my mother's manual typewriter. I was amazed how fast and easy it was to learn on this device. I then began to type all of the notes that I took in other classes to make my study guides more organized.

My senior year of high school brought many surprises, including a new class that was offered through our Computer Science teacher/Librarian. It was in this class that I learned how to type a file or document, save it to a disk with a particular name, and then print it at a later time.

When I entered West Virginia State College, my parents decided that I needed a special device that would store my documents and print them when I needed to use them for a hard copy. Therefore, they bought me my first word processor that I used for the first two years of my undergraduate career in Elementary Education.
-
After much begging and pleading with my parents that the word processor just wasn't enough anymore to handle my work load, I talked them into purchasing a Gateway 2000 computer and I was extremely happy!!

Upon graduation from WVSC, I learned how to send and receive email through a course that was offered to beginning teachers through Kanawha County Schools. I never would imagine that this amount of technology would have become such a part of my everyday life.
-
I began learning how to connect to various sources through the use of "search engines". Now, when any of my students ask a question that requires greater amounts of research, I simply reply, "Let's Google that!!"

When I began my graduate program in Elementary Education in 2006, I purchased my first laptop computer. I thought it would last me forever! Unfortunately I used it for everything, and it only survived two years.

When I look back at the use of technology throughout my life, I am amazed of how far our world has come. I could not image a life without Internet or the daily use of my I pad. Apple technology has totally spoiled me!
