American workers in California were not very fond of the Chinese workers. Several American mine workers came into a mine in 1885 and killed 28 Chinese workers. My boyfriend, that I traveled to America with, died in this accident. I was heartbroken, scared, and I didn't know how to survive.

After working in a sweatshop for three years, I finally upgraded to nicer working. A very kind late ofund me leaving a sweatshop one day and she said she saw great potential in me. She owned her own factory making clothes and she wanted me to work for her. This is when I knew moving to America was not a mistake.
