    Louis IX ruled France, and he was pious and saintly. He was made saint by the Catholic Church because he was the ideal king.

    Philip IV's rule.

    Philip IV ruled France ,and he was involved in a quarrel with the pope. The pope didn't want priests to pay taxes to the king. As a result, Philip IV no longer allowed the pope to control Church affairs in the Church.
