  • My Pathway

    The pathway that I have chosen is medical school. I plan on going through all the steps to become a pathologist. This occupation allows me to look at tissue and other samples from patients or particularly dead bodies to discover the reason for death or the particular issue with the sample. After conducting tests pathologists are able to communicate the issue to other medical staff to make the right treatment or conclusions about the issue.

    Right now based off of different skills and learning surveys I can now understand the different skills and tools I need and already have a good grasp on. I also understand the type of learner and speaker I am which I can now use to better the way I perform tasks. Skills I plan on bettering this year are my initive, organization, computer use and writing skills. These skills are all skills my teachers and I believe I can improve on to make my work and understanding better.

    Highschool goals

    Finish all required courses such as biology, chemistry, and math. As well as take part in the health and wellness SHSM course. I strive to achieve a 85-90% in each of my courses, this will help with the competition to get a spot in the medical school I choose.

    Throughout my classes specialized towards the science field I will need to require the skills of document reading, collaboration/ communication, numeracy, thinking and computer use. I will also need to work on my organizations, initive and responsibility skills.

    Earn a bachelor's degree in medical science

    Most physicians earn a bachelor's degree before applying for other medical schools. This takes 3-5 years. This takes focus, self regulation and organization, skills that I will have to work hard for throughout this time period and all through my education and career.

    Goals for MCAT test

    When approaching the MCAT test I plan on keeping on task with studying and keeping on top of new material so that I am able to pass the test with a exciting mark and not have the pressure to retake the test. I plan on studying, staying on task and taking responsibility for my learning. These tools will also help me later o when it comes to learning new material.

    When attending medical school I must have the skills of organization, responsibility when it comes to keeping up with the work load and getting to the various classes. When it comes to the second two years of school I have to have a strong skill of focus because this is when the hands on part of leaning starts. I am a kinestetic learning which means in this section of my learning i should be able to excel and achieve a high percent.

    Hands on residency

    For around 4 years after medical school I will have hands on, real situation training in a facility of my choice. When it comes to this I will have to use all of the new information and tools I learned while in medical schools. Such as listening, responsibilty and other skills such as medical techniques that i learn about the profession.

    Final Step

    The final step to becoming a Pathologist is to find a permanate spot, to do this I need to use skills such as communication, computer and document use and continuous learning. I will have to use my communication and collaboration skills with others to find out about new job opportunities and ways of moving up in my field.
