Career Path

  • Home Life

I live with my parents, an older brother, and an older sister. My brother still lives at home, and my sister just finished her first year of university, so she's moving back home. I get along relatively well with everyone, but I can't wait to get away from them. I'm going to move away after high school.
  • Work Experience

I got a job when I was 12. I work on a diary farm. I was at my cousin's wedding and I wanted to milk the cows on her parent-in-laws' farm, but I wasn't allowed. My uncle found a farmer who lived nearby and I got to see his cows. He decided I was a good worker and asked if I wanted a job. I got a real work schedule in 2016 and have been working since.
  • School Awards

I won the grade 9 art award last year, and wanted to continue winning the awards. If I want to go to an art college, they'll look great in my application. However, Central timelines are terrible and I didn't get a single art class this year while I know people who got two in one semester. I'm still mad about that. I also got honours last year, but that's not important to me.
  • Resume

I want to get a new job because I've worked on the dairy farm for a long time and do not have experience in a job that actually deals with people. I work with cows, and while it's fun, I'll be lost when I move away for school and get a new job where I need people skills. I'm in the middle of gathering references for a resume.
  • Transferring schools

I'm going to transfer to St. Josephs Catholic High School for my grade 11 and 12 years. I didn't go to the open house in grade 8 because my parents really wanted me to go to Central, but after seeing how terrible the school is for my future and how unhappy I am, they've agreed to let me leave!
  • School Credits

After completing my grade 10 year, the only mandatory credits I will have left is grade 11 math and English, and grade 12 English. I'm already ahead of my grade level in the sciences, and plan to finish grade 12 chemistry next year. I want to rack up the art credits and science credits, as I will apply to both art schools and schools that require science credits.
  • Volunteer Hours

I already have a fair amount of hours from volunteering for random events such as a haunted corn maze, track and field meets, and school concerts. This summer, I'm going to volunteer at Friends For Life cat shelter on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
  • Graduating High School

I plan to graduate high school within the four mandatory years. I do not want to take a fifth year because so far high school has sucked and I want out as soon as possible. Perhaps if I really like St. Josephs I will stay, because they have so many courses I would like to take, but probably not.
  • Post Secondary School

I'd prefer to take a year off after school to gain money for university, but it's easier applying to schools with the help of guidance councilors. I want to study Zoology and Animal Sciences. I know I want to work with animals, but I have often changed my mind about how. If I want, I can get my DVM (degree in veterinary medicine) and if not, the courses I take will still allow me to get jobs to work with animals. I would like to either go to Guelph or Laurentian University.
  • Directly After University

I plan to move from campus residence to my own house or apartment. I will probably rent a small place while I look for a job in an area I want.
  • Career

I want to work with an animal rehabilitation foundation. I want to help relocate wounded animals and safely breed animals to save species from extinction. I wouldn't want to become the boss of the foundation, because I'd prefer to work on the field rather than handle finances and paperwork.
