Callie's life

  • Cooper was born

    Cooper was born
My younger brother Cooper was born when I was two. Cooper and I have always been close especially growing up and going to our babysitter's house everyday. I don't remember specifically when Cooper was born but it still changed my life completely. He inspires and encourages me to be a good role model for him. My best memories are with Cooper because of the fun we have together.
  • Began Cheerleading

    Began Cheerleading
I began cheerleading at a gym in Danbury when I was 10. It was the beginning of an eight year long career. Cheerleading taught me several things. It taught me how to work well with and trust other people. It also taught me how to be a good teammate and to be a part of a team. Cheerleading is the other side of my life that I separate completely from my life at school and in Brewster.
  • Babysitting

    Babysitting
The summer before I went into high school I babysat almost everyday for two kids that live on my street. I have known their mother for a long time so she trusted me with her four and two year old almost all day long in the summer. It taught me to be responsible for other people and taught me how to handle really young kids. It was also like my first job. I would work everyday and get paid every week and I learned a lot from doing it at 14.
  • My Uncle Kevin died

    My Uncle Kevin died
In May of 2015, my Uncle Kevin passed away from a heart attack. Uncle Kevin was my godfather and my Dad's younger brother. Losing was devastating for my family and all of my dad's huge Irish family. As difficult as it was for me and my siblings and my cousins to lose our uncle, it was even more devastating to experience my father to lose his younger brother and our grandparents to lose their child. The loss of my uncle taught me to value each moment I have with the people I love.
  • Changing cheerleading gyms

    Changing cheerleading gyms
At the end of my freshman year, I started cheering at a new program. I was now going to a gym 50 minutes away in Norwalk instead of 10 minutes away in Danbury. I was dedicated to cheer and I knew I was getting better at it so driving 50 minutes for practice 4 times a week was completely worth it for me. I had to make a whole new group of friends and learn to bond with a group of people I had just met. It was an experience that was tough to do on my own but I am proud to have done it successfully
  • Trip to Europe

    Trip to Europe
The summer before my junior year, my mom took me and my best friend to Europe for 10 days. We went to Switzerland to visit my mom's sister, Aunt Regina to me. I met my Aunt Regina and her husband Pierre Andre for the first time at 16. We stayed at their house and explored Switzerland for a few days and then we traveled to Paris together where we stayed for three days. I had been wanting to go to Paris since I was young so being there was so exciting for me.
  • Passing my road test

    Passing my road test
I got my driver's license October of my junior year of high school. After the initial thrill of finally getting my license at 16, the responsibility of having a driver's' license set in. Getting my license granted me the freedom every kid wants for years, and taught me to be responsible and make good decisions for myself and the people close to me. Having an older sister with a license has opened many doors for Cooper and I to have more fun together as well.
  • My first car

    My first car
Lucky for me I was able to get my first car the day I passed my road test. My parents and I split the price so I paid $4,000 for my $8,000 Volkswagen Golf. My car my favorite thing I have. It forced me to learn how to budget my money so I could pay for my gas and use my car to go out and do the things I want. I love to drive in my car by myself and listen to my music, that will always make me feel good.
  • Fainting in public

    Fainting in public
This moment was embarrassing while it was happening but I am only able to laugh about it now. I fainted and had a small seizure in the nail salon the day before junior prom. I was with my best friend and she had to call 911. I knew that I had only fainted but they made me go in an ambulance to the hospital anyways. The whole time I had to stay in the hospital I was so mad because I knew that I was fine and I just wanted to go home.
  • Failing to apply to NHS

    Failing to apply to NHS
At the end of junior year i was eligible to apply for National Honor Society. I received the letter and an application to be completed by a certain deadline. I put it off for so long that I never even completed the application and did not get to apply to NHS. I wish I had applied because I know it's something that looks great to be a part of. At this moment I feel guilty about not applying because I believe it could have helped me on my college applications.
