    The city of Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine Empire. It was found by Emperor Constantine in the year 330 AD. Emperor Constantine moved the Capital of the Romam Empire from Rome to Constantinople. Constantinople was first called Byzantium, but was renamed to Constantinople after Emperor Constantine.

When they finally got in they ramsacked the city. Killing everying, melting down priceless artifacts, and burning many buildings including the Library of Constantinople.

    The Byzantine Empire ended in 1453. Many things led to the end of the Empire. The rise of Islam, the crusades, civil wars, and the rise of the Ottomans led to the end of the Byzantines. The Ottomans eventually captured Constantinople marking the end of the Byzantine Empire.
