  • Balfour Declaration

    Balfour Declaration
    The Balfour Declaration was a letter written by the U.K's foreign secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschilds. The letter stated that the king of the UK was in favor for establishing a home for the Jewish people in Palestine. The letter also said that the act was not prejudice to other non-jewish people living in Palestine.
  • Western Wall Uprising

    Western Wall Uprising
    The western wall is one of the most sacred Jewish sites in Palestine. However Muslims consider the wall to be part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque which is a holy site. The Muslims wouldn't allow the Jews to bring chairs for the elderly. During Yom Kippur the Jews bulit a screen out of cloth, the Muslims declared that this was against the Ottoman status quo and demanded it be torn down. The Jews refused and violent conflict began. 133 Jews killed by Arab mobs and 110 Arabs killed by British police.

    Haj Amin al-Hussenin is captured by the frencharmy when Nazi Germany surrenders. Unfourtantley he escaped and fled to Egypt.

    The Arab-Israeli war, also known as the Israeli War of Independence, was brought on by extreme tensions between the Jewish and Arab people. This was the costliest war Israel had fought yet, 6,000 Israelis were killed and 15,000 wounded. The war was fought throughout the entire country, all the way to the borders of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Sinai.
  • Suez Crisis

    Suez Crisis
    Egypt had been pressuring Britain to remove their troops from the Suez canal. Eventually they did and not soon after Gamal Abdel decided to nationalize the canal. Egyptian troops began fighting with Israeli troops positioned at the border of the canal. Israel decided to invade the canal; they were backed by British and French troops. They pushed the Egyptian forces out of the canal. However they removed their troops when the U.S pleaded with them.
  • 6 Day War

    6 Day War
    The 6 day war was fought by Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The Israel's believed that Egypt was preparing to attack because they forced the U.N out of the Suez Canal. So they launched bomb raids on air Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq and destroyed all of their air forces. Israel captured the West Bank from Jordan and the Golan Heights from Syria. This war was a giant blow to the Arab's pride; all 4 of their most powerful nations were destroyed by one much smaller one.
  • Yom Kippur War

    Yom Kippur War
    The Yom Kippur war was a war between Egypt, Syria, and Israel. Egypt and Syria teamed up and launched a surprise attack on Israel. They launched the attack on the holiest day in Jewish religion, Yom Kippur. Egyptian & Syrian troops entered the Sinai Peninsula and Golan Heights, which had been captured by Israel in the 6-day war. In 3 days the Israeli forces pushed the troops back and then launched a 4 day battle in Syria.
  • South Lebanon Conflict

    South Lebanon Conflict
    Operation Litani was an invasion of Lebanon all the way up to the Litani River by the Israeli forces. It was carried out in response to the Costal Road Massacre.2,000 Lebanese and Palestinians were killed, while only 20 Israelis were killed.100,000-250,000 people in Lebanon were displaced. The UNIFL was created and forced Israeli troops out.
  • Camp David Accords

    Camp David Accords
    The Camp David Accords were signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and Israel Prime Minister Meacham Begin. The agreements were signed at the White House and were witnessed by U.S President Jimmy Carter. They stated that Israeli would return Sinai to Egypt. Egypt was also the first Middle Eastern country to recognize Israel as a country.

    Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty
    The peace treaty was signed after the Camp David Accords was put out. It was signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat & Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, and witnessed by Jimmy Carter. The treaty stated Egypt would recogonize Israel as a country, nomalization of realtions, and withdrawl of all Israel troops from the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt also agreed to keep the Peninsula demilitarized. Also all Israeli troops had the right to passs through the Suez canal.
  • Israel Jordan Peace Treaty

    Israel Jordan Peace Treaty
    The treaty signed on the southern border of Jordan in the city of Wadi. It guaranteed Jordan the restoration of it's land occupied by Israel, equal share of water from the Yarmouk and Jordan rivers, and defined Jordan's western borders from Palestine. The treaty was signed by Prime Minister Rabin and Prime Minister Abdelsalam al-Majali.
  • Annapolis Conference

    Annapolis Conference
    The Annapolis Conference was a Middle Eastern Peace Conference. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, & U.S. President George W. Bush attended the conference. The conference was held to make peace between Israel and Palestine. The conference made sure that the 2 nations understood that the Two-State Solution was the final peace act between them. It also addressed that they understood the Quartet on the Middle East was also an act of peace.
  • Two State Solution

    Two State Solution
    The Two State Solution is a solution to the Israel Palestine Conflict. It means there should be 2 states of people, the Jews and the Arab's. There will be an independent Israel state next to a independent Palestine state. There was a vote from the people living in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, 46% supported the 2 state solution. Majority of the Israeli people support the 2 state solution also.
