  • pre-school

I was in both 3-year old and 4-year old pre-school. I loved being in pre-school and playing with all the kids. We had arts & crafts, ecercise, music, snack time, outside time, reading time.
  • parenting style

I think my parents for the most part were authoritative although I still got spankings. My parents were always involved in everything we did. They were very supportive of me, however, they made sure that I knew when I was wrong.
  • Identification

to find my identification I would mimic my mom being a secretary. I had my own desk and phone and I would answer my phone just like my mom and take messages, make appointments, and fake conversations. I also was my cousin's shadow. I thought he was the coolest person in the world and wanted to do everything he did. I still remember getting to go to the dorms with him and how special I felt being a little kid where only big kids go.
  • ride a bike

    5 years old
  • bedtime ritual

Before bed I would always get in bed and my dad would come in with a book and read it to me. By the time I was 5 I could read easy books on my own because I always wanted to do everything on my own and would learn to do it.
  • self-esteem

self-esteem was something I always had as a child. I was the first girl and my older cousins would take me everywhere with them so I was really spoiled and had high self-esteem overall
  • temper tantrums

my temper tantrums were always really bad. I probably had temper tantrums until I was around 5 but I still had a bad temper always
  • draw and write with one hand

could write with one hand around age 5 at least my name. I started out righting left handed but my parents felt it would be easier be right handed and had me learn to use my right hand
  • injuries

my parents were always practicing primary prevention and were pretty good at tertiary prevention by the time I grew up. I was the most accident prone child to the point the hospital actually had to take me in a seperate room and question me about whether or not my parents were abusing me. On my birthday of this year I got a new scooter but I couldn't use it because at my birthday party that year I steered to miss my uncle sledding and broke my leg crashing into a wooden fence post :(
  • growth patterns

Turned 6 years old. Was average for my age. Tallest girl in my class for this ager group.
  • sleep

I had a regular bedtime and wake-up time, however, I never wanted to go to sleep. I never wanted to take naptime and I would sometimes scare my dad when he was working shift being in the living room saying "Hi, Dad" when he walked in the door.
  • conservation

I remember doing an at-home take home project with my mom on conservation and it blew my mind away that the bigger glass half full was the same as the small glass being full. It was a lot easier for me to understand lenth and numbers. Matter took me the longest to catch onto.
  • motor skills

I loved playing catch with my cousin. He was on the baseball team in high school so I thought I was special that I could catch a ball too (even if it was a lot bigger) I could never do a cartwheel and still can't to this day but I loved doing summersaults all over the place. I learned to tie my shoes around age 5 because they wanted you to be able to do it in kindergarten
  • vocabulary

I had a pretty large vocabulary by the time I was 6. I grew up around adults and my cousins would take me everywhere with them so I was like a little tiny adult.
  • theory-theory

I was always explaining everything I saw around me and repeating it back to people. I had a vivid imagination and would talk anyone in my families ear off. I still have theories for everythng to this day.
  • emotions become more responsive to stimuli

I was a very shy kid but always happy and laughing. I had to go to work with my mom and one of my favorite things to do was play secratary at my little desk I had just like my mom.
  • eating habits

loved tomatoes! My parents thought they lost me and couldn't find me anywhere. My dad finally found me in the backyard eating all his tomatoes out of the garden.
  • prefer to have things done a certain way

I always preferred to have things seperated by color and then seperated by shape. My favorite shape during the play years was hearts (now I hate them! :) )
  • self-concept

My self-concept was that I always wanted to wear pants and hated dresses. I was a very big tomboy because all my cousins were boys so I was right down in the dirt with them creating trouble, getting messy, fishing out tadpoles and catching frogs
  • empathy

I think I learned my biggest lesson as a kid the day my Grandma died when I was in 1st grade. I thought my mom was playing a sick joke since she died on April Fool's day. I was so upset but I saw that my family was upset too so I just wanted to help make them feel better and be happy. I tried to give hugs and make them laugh
  • antipathy

The biggest I remember of feelings of antipathy was my cousin's friend was dating a girl name Mona and I have no idea why but I did not like her at all. She always tried being cute and nice to me and I just thought she was the worst person in the world. I also didn't like my cousin's girlfriend beause I thought she was taking him away from me. I cried so hard when they got married because he had to move away from across the street.
  • physical activity

I was always a very active kid. My cousins, sister, and I were always outside doing something. Even inside I was still usually running around. My school was big on excercise for school. My favorite school activity was Jump Rope for Heart. You raised money for how long you could jump rope. I loved jump roping so it was right up my ally. We also had track in the spring and physical education was a part of all 4 of the school I went to up until 8th grade.
  • academics

I always did very well academically. I recieved good grades in school. I always did good on the aptitude tests and standardized testing.
  • instrumental anger

My sister was in Kindergarten and I would always keep stuff she wanted and tell her it was mine just to be mean.
  • selective attention

I have a hard time focusing on doing one thing for very long parts of time. One thing I have always been able to focus on for hours and hours though is drawing. For some reason with art I can sit forever and not realize the time was going by.
  • classification

I always liked things to be in certain groups. Color was my favorite thing to organize by. I had a thing for organizing everything by the colors of the rainbow.
  • externalizing problems

I had quite a little temper on me so when I externalized my problems quite verbally with yelling and sometimes even kicking. I went to the health center and had to get a shot that was unneeded. I screamed telling that woman I was going to kill her and kicked her in the shins. It took 5 people just to give me that shot.
  • reactive aggression

I remember my cousin and I stayed at my Grandpa's for the first time and he did something to me so to get back at him I drew all over his Gak and he punched me. We were fighting so bad my Grandpa never let us spend the night together again and we still haven't to this day
