    Mohenjo Daro and Harappa were one of the first Indus River civilizations. It isn't sure yet why they left, but is strongly believed that the reason of why they left was for an Indus River flooding

    Aryans came from modern country Russia. Then they passed througth the Khyber pass and got to India. They moved the power from Indus river to Ganges river.

    Siddartha Gautama founds buddhism
    Siddartha Gautama was known for founding buddhism. Buddhism is a religion which leads attributes and spiritual practices to Buddha. Hinduism is about understanding Brahma, existence, from within the Atman, which roughly means "self" or "soul," whereas Buddhism is about finding the Anatman — "not soul" or "not self."
  • Period: 326 BCE to 180 BCE

    Maurya Empire

    One of the main leaders was Chandragupta Maurya. He founded this empire. He also raised an army with Chanakya's help. This empire had declined, scince after ruler Ashoka, only weak kings ruled. The last emperor, Brihadratha, held territories that had shrunk. He was killed during a military parade, and Pushyamitra Shunga established the next dynasty. Another important leader was Ashoka.

    Reign of Asoka

    Ashoka was a ancient India emperor, he was a member of the Maurya Dynasty, this Dynasty ruled almost all of the Indias subcontinent. One of India's greatest emperors, Ashoka reigned over a realm that stretched from the Hindu Kush mountains in Afghanistan to the modern state of Bangladesh in the east.
  • Period: 262 BCE to 261 BCE

    Battle of Kalinga

    The Kalinga War was fought in India between the Maurya Empire under Ashoka. The Kalinga War, the only major war Ashoka fought after his accession to the throne, included one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history. Though Kalinga put up a stiff resistance against the brutal strength of the Maurya Empire, they were outnumbered. The bloodshed of this war is said to have prompted Ashoka to adopt Buddhism.
  • Period: 320 to 550

    Gupta Dynasty

    This period of time had many accomplishments like establishing the use of numbers from 0 to 9, building monuments for religion between others.
