    Getting hired

    English king Henry VII granted John Cabot the right to seek islands and countries of the heaten towards the west, east, and north sailing under the English flag.
  • May 2, 1496

    First voyage

    John boards his ship, The Matthew, to explore the lands across the Atlantic, hoping to find a north west passage to the Indies and China, he returns June 26th that same year.
  • Jun 9, 1497

    New world

    John reaches the New world at either cape Breton Island or Labrador
  • Aug 6, 1497

    Return

    John and his crew of the Matthew land home in Bistrol and John is granted a pension from King Henry VII
  • Jan 18, 1498

    Greenland

    Cabot reaches the east coast of Greenland which he names Labradors land
  • Feb 3, 1498

    Second Voyage

    John is granted another patent, 5 ships, and 300 men to undertake a 2nd exhibition
  • Jun 25, 1498

    The last voyage

    After the journey was made too difficult by geological obstacles the team turned south along the coast of Greenland

  • Samuel de Champlain

    Young Samuel boards a a ship with his uncle and navigates the Caribbean making him an early traveler and geographer
  • Voyage the new world

    Champlain visits the new world down the St. Lawrence. He begins to establish a relationship of the inhabitants native to this area.
  • Starts a fort in Port Royal

  • Champlain explores the Hurons

  • Battle of Iroquois

    Champlain fights with the allies he made previously against the mohawk tribe
  • Samuel makes the first map of Quebec

  • Champlain builds a new fort in Quebec

    The fort ended up with less than 60 people it didn't work out it was later surrendered to the British in 1627
  • Champlain goes to England for help from French ambassador

    Upon returning to France asked for help from them to help save the young colony that was in ruin when he tried to take over Quebec. Quebec was then restores to France in1632 by the treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye
