    king loius XVI calls upon the estate-general in 1788 to meat at versailles the fallowing year. In preparation Louis had all of the esates prepare cahiers or notbooks, listing all of their grievences. Many cahieres had included things ike fairer taxes, freedom of press and regular meeting of the estates-gneral.

    the bastille was a prison for political people and others. the crowd that was attacking it demanded weapons and gunpowder so they could attack the king. The commander refused to open the gae and a war broke loose but the enraged mob prevailed. When they searched the prison they found no weapons so now storming into the bastille represented the years of abuse from the monarchy and sent a wake p call to king Lois VII that they were serious.
