    Molly's Lifetime

  • The First Two Years

    • Biosocial- I was not breastfed; bottlefed. I had colic. My head/skull was expectedly disproportionately large. My eyesight was normal allowing me to experience the world and I was cared for by my mother. June 26, 1991-first tooth.
    • Cognitive- I was curious to learn and explore the world through my senses and motor skills. Consequently, I ate plants and my mom frequently called poison control. July 3, 1991- first word was dada.
    • Psychosocial- Socially connected with my mother, synchrony.
  • The Play Years.

    • Biosocial- I prefered to use my right hand. Temper tantrums and anger at age two which subsided by age six (development of prefrontal cortex).
    • Cognitive- I was quiet but attained the ability to form sentences when I did talk.
    • Psychosocial- I was shy and withdrawn with people i did not know well. I had trouble sharing in preschool and did not want to leave my mother to go to school.
  • The School Years.

    • Biosocial- I was in the lowest percentile for weight and height through the ages 7-11.I was always active and started tae kwon do.
    • Cognitive- My speed of thinking and brain developed in addition to taking part in repetition. I believe tae kwon do allowed for this and enhanced speed of thinking, along with hand eye coordination.
    • Psychosocial- I was not friends with everyone but had a small group of very close best friends, which helped me through the many quarrels in elementary school.
  • Adolescence

    • Biosocial- Typical physical changes and increased muscle mass due to puberty and cross country running, which lead to concern over body image.
    • Cognitive- Experienced egocentrism and was quite self-conscious. I remember feeling like everyone was looking at me.
    • Psychosocial- I was typically unhappy. I had trouble getting close to guys and staying in a relationship while in high school. I was not in any particular "group" and did not know where I fit in (cross country, violin, clubs).
  • Emerging Adulthood.

    • Biosocial- I took care of myself freshman year of college and ran a lot maintaining a strong healthy body. Sophmore year I had trouble but now I eat and exercise and have more energy to do yoga and run like before.
    • Cognitive- My focus shifted from being Catholic, like my family, to more of a spiritual/Christian. I have been taking many science courses and studying biology since starting college.
    • Psychosocial- My trust and reliance has shifted from my family to my best friends.
  • Adulthood.

    • Biosocial- I will hopefully retain healthy eating and exercising to slow the aging process/senescence.
    • Cognitive- I will hopefully be working as a nurse by now and continue to expand my knowledge through work experiences (crystallized intelligence).
    • Psychosocial- I hope to have developed permanent and stable lifelong relationships by this time and be married as well. Hopefully I will be a good mother.
  • Late adulthood.

Biosocial- I hope to retain my health, sanity and independence at this stage of my life although I know some aspects of aging are inevitable.
Cognitive- My grandpa died of Alzheimer's, hopefully at this stage I will not have to battle this as he did.
Psychosocial- I hope to have joined some senior groups for socializing, in addition to staying in contact with my friends and family.
  • Death and dying.

I hope to live to the ripe old age of 85 and die with a bit of dignity...if i am lucky. ;]
