    Initial information of Cultural Competency: Definition & 6 Stages of Developmental Model of Intercultural Sensitivity (DMIS) (Notes 9/2/09) This information helps me reflect on how culturally competent I am now and hope to become in the future. I can also use the DMIS with my students.

    Basic ELL info, Information of different ELL Levels (Handout 9/14/09) It's important to have general knowledge of English language learners as a whole. Having the ELL levels helps me notice where my students could be and allows me to be prepared for ELL's in my classroom.

Writing objectives is something I am constantly working to improve, this information will be helpful in my future lesson planning. My plan will be helpful when I'm planning my syllabus and I can add new information I learn along the way.

    Interdisciplinary Instruction (5/5/10 Notes), Project Based Learning PBL (5/15/10 & 6/2/10). These types of lessons can both be extremely engaging lessons which is the type of lessons I want to produce for my classroom. I can look back at my lessons for help writing future lessons of this kind.

    Response to Intervention (RTI) (5/12/10 Notes). I am interested to learn evenmore about this but find that the notes will be helpful for the future. Once I get into a school, this is something I can talk more about with the Special Education department.

    www.colorincolorado.org. Great tool to help teach ELL's. (5/12/10 Notes). This tool can help me create lessons that accomodate ELL's. It can also be helpful for teaching Spanish, in general.

    Conflict Styles- Indirect vs Direct, Emotionally Expressive vs Emotionally Restrained. Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory. (Notes 6/14/10). It was very interesting to determine my conflict style and I think this is something I can use in my classroom to help me better understand my students, especially those from different cultures than me.

    My Classroom Magagment Plan. "Teaching with Love & Logic" by David Funk & Jim Fay and "Under-Resourced Learners, 8 Strategies to Boost Student Achievement" by Ruby Payne. These books both serve as great resources to reference about adolescents. It's important to know how to teach students from different backgrounds. These helped me generate my classroom managment plan which will serve as a great tool for me.

    To prepare for the first day of school I am going to read "The First Days of School" by Harry Wong. This will help me feel more prepared for my first day and give me ideas for the structure of my first classroom.

    I'm interested in learning more about different levels of books to purchase for students to accomodate the different levels of ELL's. We learned about the butterfly books from Jillian but I would like to find more on different topics.

    9 Adaptations I can use in my classroom: quantity, time, level of support, input, difficulty, output, participation, alternate goals, subsitute curriculum. After getting to know my class I will be able to determine which of these accomodations are most necessary for my students. (Notes on Differentiation 6/16/10)

    Books to read: "200+ Educational Strategies to Teach Children of Color," "Other People's Children," "Pedagogy of the Oppressed," & "We Can't Teach What We Don't Know." These books will help me better understand the different cultures of my students and how to teach them.

    I will stay current with music, books, and other interests of my students to build a relationship with each of them. Building relationships with each of my students is extremely important and I plan to study more ways to do so, inparticular ways to remember names.
