    Impressment is the process of forcing a person to serve an army or navy. So, the British had a law that allowed captains to stop any vessel to search of deserters or any British citizens as to make them join their force. But British would capture any English-speaking sailors which would include and Americans, over 6,000 which would be a huge contributor to the start of the War of 1812.

    Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality

    Washington wanted to make the United States stance very clear with war raging on in Europe. He would state that he had the duty to look after the interest of the United States, so this would be the excuse for them to be neutral. But the people of the States did not like that as they believed that they owed France due to the assistance that they had given them throughout the American Revolution.

    The Jay Treaty was signed by both the Unites States and Great Britian as to solve the issues that they had with commerce and their ships being seized. This would cause problems for the United States as it would cause fighting between the two political parties at the time.

    Washington would step down from his positions as the President. With his farewell address speaking about the growing tensions with Great Britain. That being one of the reasons for him running for another term. But he felt that the United States would be in safe hands of the new President.

    The act would shut all port down with export of any kind of good and would put restrictions onto the imports coming from Great Britain. This would be due to the actions of both the British and France seizing their ships and searching them unlawful. With Napoleon even stating he was helping by seizing ships.

    The affair was caused by deserters, as Jenkin Ratford and four others would steal a boat and land on the shores of Norfolk. He would later join the USS Chesaperke. But the HSS Leopard would later spot them and ask to search for deserters that they had lost. The commander of the USS Chesaperke denied their request and the HSS Leopard open fire, boarded, and captured the deserter. This infuriated the American People, but nothing could be done as the Americans Navy was taking care of pirates.

    The War Hawks were a group that had been elected into the United States Congress. People like Henry Clay and John C. Calhoun would be part of this group which would show their resentment in the way that the United States was treated with their economy being in shambles and the nation being humiliated.

    This was a battle between the Native Americans, specifically Shawnee Indians, and British. This would lead them to join the British force.

    The Hartford Convention was a meeting of Federalists that would discuss the issues that were occurring under the President Thomas Jefferson at the time. The Federalists would end up speaking about secession, amendments, and would end up adopting a strong-state ideology.

    This was a Treaty that was signed by both the United States and Great Britain which would state the end of the War of 1812. As both signs were equal when it came to military power which would be a reason for them to stop fighting and no concessions.

    The Battle of New Orleans was never intended to happen as the people involved had signed a peace treaty. In the fall of 1814 Gen commanded a British fleet of more than 50 ships to set sail to New Orleans and would arrive in early 1815. With the Anderw Jackson, the commander of the Seventh Military District, arriving to help bolster their defenses. As he arrived the British were sighted and every man, the Elite, free slaves, Native Americans, even pirates, all fought off the fleet and won.
