  • Washington's Proclaimation of Neutrality

    This was issued by George Washington during the war between Britain and France, because they didn't want to get involved in that war and get more debt on top of the debt they already had, and because they didn't have a strong militia.

    Impressment of Sailors

    This was where the British Navy would capture and take the sailors from ships and make them fight with their navy.
  • Jay Treaty

    This was a treaty between Britain and the United States to prevent war with Britain and to have peace between the two nations, but it failed.
  • Tecumseh

    He was one of the Indians that opposed the Treaty of Greenville, which caused the Indians to move out of Ohio.
  • Washington's Fairwell Address

    Washington used his fairwell address to warn people about the entanglements/attachments with other nations because it might not turn out well.
  • Embargo Act

    This was made to stop trade with France and Britain, so this closed all American ports. This act didn't affect the two nations, but it did greatly affect the Americans.
  • Chesapeake-Leopard Affair

    This was where the American Ships(Chesapeake) were stopped by British ships(Leopards) to inspect the ship for deserters, but the Americans refused to let them do that the British opened fire and caused lots of damage to the American ship.Then the supposed deserters were taken from the ship and forced to go with the British.(Impressment)

    Are people that favored war, so they wanted/demanded the United States to declare war with Britain because of all the things that they were doing to the Americans.

    In the war of 1812 he fought along side the British to capture Detroit and invade Ohio.
  • War of 1812 Begins

    Is where Congress voted to see of they were to declare war on Britain, and the majority voted yes. So it all started with the invasion of Canada to get Britain's attention.

    Hartford Convention

    A secret meeting in Hartford, Connecticut of federalists who were not happy with President Madison's mercantile policies and with the progress of the War of 1812. This also led to the end of the Federalist Party.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    This ended the War of 1812, it stated that all of the conqured territory was to be returned and that a boundary line would be set between Canada and the United States.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    This battle was brought forth by the British in hopes that it would separate Louisiana from the US. The Americans were warned about this and were prepared for when the British came, so they defeated them and got the British to retreat.
