  • Battle of Tippecanoe

    The Battle of Tippecanoe was fought on November 7, 1811, near present-day Lafayette, Indiana between American forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Native American warriors associated with the Shawnee leader Tecumseh.
  • President Madison made a deal with France and Great Britain

    Madison makes a deal to France and Great Britain stating that U.S. will stop trading with your enemy if you stop attacking our ships. France agrees first and Madison cuts off all trade with Great Britain.
  • Oliver Hazard Perry captured a British fleet

    Oliver Hazard Perry, who commanded the Lake Erie naval forces, was ordered to seize the lake from the British. Perry's ships defeated the British naval force.
  • Battle of Thames River

    Tecumseh was killed. The Battle of the Thames, also known as the Battle of Moravian town, was a United States victory in the War of 1812 against the United Kingdom and Tecumseh's Confederacy. It took place on October 5, 1813 in Upper Canada, near present-day Chatham, Ontario.
  • Attack on Washington D.C.

    The British sailed into Chesapeake Bay in August 1814, from Chesapeake Bay, they marched to Washington D.C. They burned buildings such as the capitol and the Presidents mansion. Luckily a thunderstorm put out the building that were on fire before they could do more damage.
  • Napoleons defeat in Europe

    The British had defeated Napoleon in Europe. To keep fighting the United States would result in little gain and was not worth the effort. American and British representatives signed a peace treaty agreement called the Treaty of Ghent. No one won the war, but America was proud.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Two weeks after negotiators in Europe reach agreement on a peace treaty to end the War of 1812, but a month before news of the treaty reaches North America, the United States wins its greatest military victory of the conflict.
  • British attack Baltimore

    The Battle of Baltimore was a sea/land battle fought between British invaders and American defenders in the War of 1812. American forces repulsed sea and land invasions off the busy port city of Baltimore, Maryland, and killed the commander of the invading British forces.
