    Declaration of war
    On June 18th, 1812 the Americans declared war on Britain. American president James Madison sent a message to the congress telling how and why America dislikes Britain, but did not exactly call for a declaration. But, American commander Genral Hull did NOT learn of the declaration until July 5th. The Americans had 2500 men and outnumbered the British by more than 1000 men. General Hull, the American commander, could not reach Fort Detroit for backup, and by then the British had a key fort of Michilimackinac surrounded. The Americans were terrified of the the Indians, and Hull and the Americans surrendered without a fight

    The Battle of Queenston Heights Part 1
    On October 13, 1812 the Americans tryed to invade Queenston Heights. 6000 American men crossed Niagra RIver in boats. The British had the shore and upper ground and were winning the battle. Some American troops did manage to sneak up a path, and caught the Brits off guard, and the British had to retreat. But Brock, knowing they needed the high ground back, led a counterattack. It failed and during the attack, Brock was shot right in the chest, dieing instanly. It was a HUGE loss to the British.

    TheIndians came stroming back. They rushed down the hill screaming terrifying sounds, making it sound like there was 10 times more of them. The British had won.     The Battle of Frenchtown
    On the 18th of January, 1813 the Americans again tryed to recapture Detriot.     The Battle of York was basically where the Americans went into the capital city, York and burned all of the building pillaging everything. If there was sick people inside the buildings they were burning, they literetaly took them and their beds out and put them outside. This was also in the winter so you can't even imagine how cold they would have been.     The Battle of Thames River Part 1
    After the Americans took Lake Erie, and General Brock had been killed, a new British commander, General Procter was left in charge. Proctor abandoned Fort Detriot to go into the west of Upper Canada. But with the abandon of Fort Detriot, Procter also abandoned the Indians, who had fought with the British for the whole war. Tecumseh the Indian leader eventually convinced Procter to help them fight but the British were tired and hungry and low on ammunition. Because of this, the Americans won.

    The Battle of Chippawa
    The Battle of Chippawa was fought along the Niagra River, with the Americans once again trying to invade upper Canada. At this time, the British had won the war against Napoleon in Europe, and were now able to send over British regulars to help defend Canada. That left American commander John Armstrong hoping to win a battle in Canada before the regulars for Britain had shown up. He was succesfull and the Americans had won the Battle of Chippawa, just like that.

    Considered the bloodiest battle of the war, The Battle of Lundys Lane was also one of the deadliest battles EVER on Canadian soil. Fought in a graveyard near Niagra, Lundys Lane was at night, and as a result, gun shots were going everywhere.     The Battle of Bladensburg Part 1
    After the burning of York, and with the British furious, this was one way that they could get the Americans back. And what a perfect timing, as the British had won the war in Europe, and could now send over more experienced and trained soldiers to help in North America. The British went right into Americas capital, Washinton, and with the Americans overwhelmed with the regulars from Europe, fell to the British at Bladensburg. That allowed the British to walk right in and do some damage...

    The British had walked right in and did one of the things called by Americans, "The Greatest disgarce ever dealt to American arms." The British went right in, chasing the American Milita and James Madison and the rest of the governement down the streets.     At this time, the treaty was already signed, but the news had not reached the armys. This made this a pointless battle. But the Americans took the battle anyways. 8000 British troops were deafeated in the battle.
