  • Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality

    Washington issued this when Britian and France went to war because he didnt think they were economically ready. It made it illegal for America to trade, ally or fight against any foreign nation. It also caused them not to have to pick aside between the two.

  • Jay Treaty

    This treaty was used by the Americans to avoid war with Great Britain.

  • Washington's Farewell Address

    This was his last address as President. In this address he warned us about two things, political parties and foreign alliances.

  • British Impressment of Saliors

    Britain would capture American's when seizing their ships and force them to join their navy forces.

  • Chesapeake-Leopard Affair

    naval engagement that occurred off the coast of Norfolk, Virginia, that was between the British warship HMS Leopard and American frigate USS Chesapeake. This event makes the Americans hate the British more.

  • Embargo Act of 1807

    It was an Embargo that made all United States exports illegal. The intentions was to send a message to Britain and France to make them respect American rights. It didn't work.

  • War Hawks

    Leaders such as Henry Clay,and John C. Calhoun they wanted to declare war with Great Britain

  • Tecumseh

    He was a Native American British ally during the war and the first battle of the war, the Battle of Tippecanoe was fought between his brother, "the prophet" and William Henry Harrisons army leads to Tecumseh alliance with the British.

  • War of 1812 begins

    There were many causes that lead up to the war, one being that Britain gave the Native Americans weapons to attack them, two being they were seizing the ships/trade, impressing the sailors, and they still had their presences on American soil. America went to war with Great Britain

  • Tecumseh

    Killed at the Battle of Thames ( Canada ) and the Indian confedercy falls apart because of it.

    This is where the New England Federlist's party met up and discussed their grievances about the ongoing War of 1812

  • Treaty of Ghent

    This is the peace treaty that ended the War of 1812, but wasnt raitified until 1815.

  • Battle of New Orleans

    This was the final major battle of the War of 1812. Andrew Jacksonn becomes a national hero. U.S. victory. Technically fought when the war was over because they did not know the treaty was signed. Cause it takes forever for word to spread back then.
